Minecraft

Yesterday, I had a rehersal with a pianist, with whom I'm going to play the violin in a concert on Wednesday, the 14 of December. It was really nice! After the rehersal I went to my friend Maxime's house, where we listened to bands like Dream Theater, Cradle of Filth, Deicide and Cannibal Corpse, and played video games, like Minecraft, for exemple, where we have to build our world and fight against zombies, creepers, spiders, or other monsters. We also spent a long time talking together, about our lives, what happened during the week... I can't wait to see him again on Wednesday!

Under the Bridge

This is a song called Under the Bridge, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I really love this band, and I think this song is very beautiful. The singer is talking about his city, and what he's feeling toward it. He speaks to the city like if she was a woman. The bassist of the band, Flea, is one of the best players of the moment, so he's very famous.

Rehersal

Yesterday, I went to my music lesson for one hour and a half, and we worked on chords and strange rythmics, but as a bassist I already knew all of them so I early get bored. When the lesson finished, I spoke for ten minutes with my friend Tom, who plays the drums in my band, and then went to my friend Maxime's home to play the bass guitar and have fun. After that, we had a short walk along the Seine and I went to my electric guitar lesson. My guitar teacher is very depressed in this moment, I don't know why, but it makes me sad to see him in this bad state of mind, so I really would like to talk with him to know what went wrong, and try to help him with feeling better. Then, we had a very long rehersal with my band, and we played can't stop by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I did my homework when I came back home, and I did a drawing for Maxime, because he wanted me to do so. Before going to bed, I spoke for a long time with my best friend, Jérôme Dajoux, and we talked about a lot of things, including his future rats.

Creep is a song played by the band Radiohead, which is quite an old band. I really like this song, and the lyrics always make me get sad, because I find them very beautiful. So, here they are :

Friday night

Last friday night, my band and I gave a concert in Alfortville. It was really a good time to spend, because it's a very pleasant thing for musicians to see people dancing, screaming, or whatever when they play. Some of my friends came listening to us, so after the concert, we did a party and we had a lot of fun. Our band is called The Rainmakers, because once we had to give a concert and it was raining a lot, and there was a big storm but nevermind, we decided to play, and we really had a good time.

Serenius + Mirmillon

Yesterday night, I went to the concert of my two best friends' band, which is called Mirmillon. They played with another band, Serenius, and I really loved the show. I know Félix, the bassist of Mirmillon, since we're 3 and I met Maxime (the drummer) seven years ago. The kind of music they play is Death Metal and I truely think they are amazing players. I sometimes play with them, when they need a violin or when Félix is missing, I take his place. The second band, Serenius, is quite well known by people who love Metal, and their show was great.
After the concert, we went to a party (called an after) at Charles' (one of the guitarists) place and we had a loooot of fun. I can't wait to see them playing again!

Bright Lights

This is one of my favorite songs from Placebo. Their new drummer is great I think, better than the old one. The bassist of the band, Stefan Olsdal, is really like my idol.

The Chamber of Desires

On this picture we can see (from the left to the right) the scientist, the writer, and the stalker in the Chamber of Desires. This is a bit before the physics teacher and the stalker fight.

The Writer

This is the most famous picture of the Writer, who wears a crown of thorns like the Christ, because he thinks that he's going to sacrifice himself for the happiness of the human kind.

The stalker

This is a picture of the stalker in the film of Andreï Tarkovski. We can also see the mysterious dog living in the Zone which will follow him everywhere.

Stalker - The Movie

"Stalker" is a movie from Andreï Tarkovski, who realized it in 1979. It's based on the book of Arkadi and Boris Strougatsky, "Piknik na obochine" or "Stalker" too, and tells the story of a man, a stalker, who is a guide for people who want to discover the Zone. The Zone is a very strange place, where veeeery bizarre events have taken place a few years ago. Maybe an extra-terrestrian visit, or a nuclear catastrophe... People don't know, but one only thing is sure about the Zone : nobody lives there, but a mysterious dog which will be adopted by the stalker, and it is so dangerous that a lot of people die every day while trying to reach the Chamber of Desires.
The Chamber of Desires is a place which is hidden somewhere in the Zone and that you can't reach using the same way everytime, if you can find it (and if you stay alive, of course) and which allows people to make one only wish that will be accomplished.
In the movie, we follow the stalker, who escorts through the Zone a physics teacher, who secretely wants to reach the Chamber of Desires to destroy it because he doesn't want it to fall into wrong hands, and a writer who wants to recover his passed glory and the truth in his capacities. But the stalker never wants to make a wish, because the only thing that makes him happy is to roam the Zone and to help people to find themselves and to get a better life, and so he's going to fight and argue with the physics teacher to dissuade him to negate the Chamber.

"Stalker" is one of my favorite films, because everytime I watch it I can't help thinking about the meaning of life and the different comportements of human kind. And it's thanks to this movie that I decided to do everything that I can to try to help people to feel better and to stop looking back at what happened in the last years, to focus on my present life and go ahead.

Running to the Edge of the World

"Running to the Edge of the World" is a song from the last album of Marilyn Manson, The High End of Low, released in May 2009 in North America.

Marilyn Manson, originally called Brian Hugh Warner, is a rock and metal singer. He was born on the fifth of May 1969 in Canton, in Ohio. He is very controversial for using blaspheme and provocation in his songs, so he had a lot of problems whith religious and political autorities.

I began listening to this singer when I was 11, with his most famous song "Sweet Dreams" and I think that he's really expressive and talentious. I went to one of his concerts two years ago and I was very impressed, and now I can truly say : This man is fabulous.

Romy

This is a picture of Romy, who was more than my best friend when she was still "alive". We met when I was 12 and she 14, at our riding school, and "severed" nine months ago, after many tensions. She made me discover the band Placebo and my passion for the writing comes from her.
She had a sort of "accident", and later thought that I was responsible of it, whereas she never remembered who I was, because now, she is more like an empty shell than like a human, and it seems like she were dead.
I think she was and still is the most important person in my life (although she wants me to disappear, in fact.)

The Bitter End

This is the most famous song of Placebo, called "The Bitter End". Placebo is one of my favorite bands, and the singer, Brian Molko, is actually the best singer I've ever known.
All the songs of this band remind me old memories, because, for a strange reason, they seem to talk about the life Romy and me leaded until she "died".
Placebo is an English band which exists since 1994.

Stalker - The Book

My favourite book is Stalker. It has been writen by Arkadi and Boris Strougatski in 1972, and the original title is "Piknik na obochine" wich means "picnic along the path". This book tells the story of Redrick Souhart, a man who lives right next to a contaminated place where extra-terrestrians came, and left a few days later, leaving behind them strange objects, substances, even deadly traps, and the Golden Ball, the final objective of every stalker, which is supposed to make the one who catches it happy for the rest of his life by granting his wishes. So, Redrick Souhart, called Red, is one of the stalkers of the town who try to reach the Golden Ball. But, the problem is that the Ball can't be reached by one only man... They have to be two, because one man must die for the other to walk through the traps safely and take the ball.
But Red is different from the other stalkers... He doesn't want to use the Golden Ball for himself, but for everyone to be happy, becauses he doesn't want to see anybody suffer anymore, and wants people to have the life they dreamt of. He always does everything he can to help, heal, save people (even the other stalkers, what is against he Stalkers' Surviving Rules) because he considers that life is too precious to be destroyed by something which is totally vain.

In the beginning...

So, let me introduce myself. My name is Solenne, but my friends use to call me Senn or Red, for different reasons : Senn is the second name of Chihiro in the cartoon of Hayao Miyazaki, one of my favourite films, and Red a character of my favourite book, who's exactly like me, like my reflect.
For now, I'm sixteen, and I was born in 1995 in the North of France, in Amiens. I ride horses, play the violin, the bass guitar, the electric and classical guitar.
I love reading books, writing stories, or listening to music. I'm also keen on going out with my friends to have a walk, talk about our lives and laugh together.

This blog is going to be about my favourite books, bands, films, or I maybe will post novels, I don't know yet.
